Description
Talus Wall offers a handful of bolted routes on highly-featured granite in a convenient location. Most of the routes are on the lowest tier of rock, hidden from the road, and are roughly 40-60' tall. There is also a single route on the highest tier ("Geologic Time Is Now") right next to the parking. All of the routes go into the shade around 1 PM. This is a great spot to get in some quick pitches after work.
The entire wall is probably approaching 200' tall but is broken up by a number of sizable ledges, likely explaining why it has been largely overlooked until now, despite its proximity to Donner Pass Road. Two old buttonhead bolts indicated evidence of limited previous activity but the wall has never been reported in a guidebook.
Getting There
Coming down Donner Pass Road, park in the small pullout on the right just off the summit. "Geologic Time Is Now" is right next to the road. For the rest of the routes, take a rough trail down for a few minutes to the base of the cliff. Be careful on the talus, because you know, it's talus.
