Description Suggest change

Chaos de Targasonne is a collection of hundreds of granite blocks scattered over the sunny slopes between Angoustrina and Targassonne. Some of the cons of bouldering here are the dry and clean air typical of 1,500 meters of altitude, an astonishingly mild climate and a really pleasant environment of meadows and hazelnuts. As is usual in the region of La Cerdanya, the view widens in an exceptional way, dominating a mosaic of green fields with the Puigmal massif, Tossa d'Alp and the Sierra del Cadí in the background.

Most of the information in this area is drawn from several different sources as I am trying to consolidate them all into one. So I may post either multiple names or none at all depending on my sources.

Any name followed by a #number is probably a reference to the guide book number so that if you have the guide book you can find it easily.

Targasonne is also commonly spelled as Targasona depending on the language and map you're using.

Getting There Suggest change

The chaos of Targasonne is in the French Cerdanya. From Puigcerdà, take the road towards Bourg Madame, where the border is located. Cross this town and take the N-20 road to the left, towards Andorra. After a long straight away you'll reach the town of Ur, where you'll turn right onto the D-618 road, towards Angoustrine and Font-Romeu. Cross the town of Angoustrine, and continue on the D-618 road, which goes up a slope making some curves. We parked on the margins of it, in the areas indicated on the map. For reference, the Dieux paiens sector car park is 3.5km from the center of Angoustrine, about 5 minutes by car.

Camping near here

Suggest change

There are several areas to park with a camper van near this area. Most of which can be found using the website park4night.com. There is also the popular La Griole Camp ground which has small cabins to stay in or a small area to set up tents which is located right next to the Chapeau and Proue areas.

Note - When it comes to car camping. As far as I can tell, you are legally allowed to park as long as you want as long as you don't set anything outside your vehicle or pop your top up. If you set table or chairs up outside your vehicle then you are only legally allowed to stay in each area 1 night. I stayed in a parking area near the Themis solar plant for two weeks and a police officer came by the last night to check and see if anyone was camping illegally. So be aware of that.

There are also several establishments to stay at within 10-20 minute drive of Targassonne.
