The Ant Hill can be seen from the road anywhere the Upper Rock and Left Rock formations are visible. It is located in the gully between Upper Rock and Left Rock and appears as a forested area. Routes face east, west and south. The temperature can be pleasant at the base during hot days, thanks to tree cover.
The most direct approach is via the Devil’s Thumb parking area. Begin walking on the northeast bound two track. When the two track curves sharply away from the crags, head into the woods. Ascend the hill for about 20-30 minutes. The distance isn’t great but the uphill pace is unrelenting. Lat/Long coordinates may be helpful getting to the base of The Ant Hill, 46.4994419, -112.0271487.
