Description Suggest change

Also know as Blender Boulders.

There are a few sea boulders scattered along the Greenport coastline on the Long Island sound.

The setting is very unique compared to many other climbs in the North East. If you climb on a hot summer day, a quick post-climbing dip in the Sound will cool you off.

When to climb:

The best time to climb is at low tide. At high tide the water level will sneak up to the bases of some of the climbs. Also note that there isn't much shade during the day, so be sure to bring a hat and some sunscreen if you climb then.

For the best and most up to date information, purchase the Gunks App 'Long Island Bouldering' guide written by Eric Marx and Sabrina Crispyn.

Getting There Suggest change

Take North Road (Route 48) out along the north fork of Long Island. Turn left onto Sound Road. If you have a Southold parking permit, you can park at the end of Sound Road. Otherwise, you'll have to park ~500 feet south of the lot, before the permit only parking signs start.  At the end of the street, take the stairs down to the beach. The closest climbable boulder is about 400 feet west of the entrance.

Alternatively, if you want to avoid parking on the street, you can access the boulders from the southwest through Inlet Pond County Park, parking at the North Fork Audubon Society lot.  From there, you'll walk through a half-mile of trails to get to the beach.  Then follow the coast north/east to the boulders.

Sabrina Crispyn (@SendItSabrina) and Eric Marx (@StrengthSoStrong) created a guidebook for bouldering in Long Island, which I'm pretty sure includes some routes here. Gunks App: Long Island

As for FA's, a guy by the name of Jack La Russa probably climbed a bunch of these in the late 90's/early 2000's.
