Description Suggest change

The East Side of Monitor Rock has a bunch of broken ledges with a few tiered cliff bands. The main destination here is the Clairabell Mine wall, which has a nice collection of routes very close together. The East Descent from the summit (see map), comes down along one of the ledges (above the Ledgeville Mantle Site), and eventually passes very close to Clairabell Mine. There is an Upper Tier called Ledgeville Mantle Site with a handful of routes not yet added to MP, and possibly other tiers/cliffbands with a few routes. See the "40 Minutes from Leadville" Guidebook for more beta on the east side.

Getting There Suggest change

Park at the large pullout on the north side of the road, just east of Monitor Rock. Pick up a wide trail going west for 20 feet, then look right for a small trail that takes the easiest path through the fallen trees. Pass a couple old cabin remains, turn right, and follow the trail until you see a trail left to Clairabell Mine. Other areas are above Clairabell Mine.
