Description
The Gardens neglected little brother. This area was called “Upper Garden” by the old timers and more recently dubbed “Armageddon”
This area is generally sunny. The approach is a bit longer but still not significant. The trail to Breadloaf and Scratch and spliff boulders is pretty well defined but quickly degrades after those two. This area feels a bit adventurous and there’s poison oak everywhere. You may be tempted to claim an FA but this place was thoroughly documented in the ancient guidebook.
Getting There
Park at the pullout 3.2 miles down quartz creek road. (Prior to the main gardens parking)
Parking: (44.4381027, -122.5834047)
Walk down the road until you see the next logging road on your left (MS 310). This road is gated and has a sign stating “Do not block gate...”
Walk up the logging road for a few minutes until you see the faint trail cutting in to the woods on your right. Follow the trail to the boulders.
