Description
The Main Climbing Wall at Alapocas Run State Park is the only climbable wall in the park, previously open walls are closed indefinitely due to safety concerns. Before climbing make sure you have your climbing permit on your harness. The wall itself has two sections, the left side of the wall which is notably shorter in height, and the center/right side of the wall which contains the majority of the recorded climbs for the area. The far-right area of the wall has particularly interesting and technical climbs, some of which can provide a “highball-esque” bouldering challenge.
When looking at the wall straight on, to the left there is an ascent trail marked by a sign to set top roping anchors, simply follow the trail passing a pool and waterfall, bearing to the right following a yellow string marker to get to the top. There are good bolts and various stations for all of the established climbs, but some gear for extending the anchor out further may be preferable for certain climbs.
This crag sees light use throughout the year and has been well maintained throughout its existence, please help continue the preservation of this unique area when you climb by utilizing leave no trace practices.
