Description Suggest change

If Alabama Hills is the poor man's Joshua Tree, then Horseshoe Meadow is the poor man's Tuolumne Meadows. With an abundance of roadside minis it’s almost worth the wear on your beater to make the steep drive up the grade. Ambient southside setting and if you don’t score any stone the fishing for the ever elusive golden trout will keep your imagination going. Horseshoe Meadow is a vast high meadow surrounded by a lodgepole pine forest resting at an elevation of 10,000 ft. As previously stated getting up the grade is an adventure in itself with a climb of over 6,000 ft from Lone Pine and the Owen's Valley below. The Horseshoe Meadow Trailhead provides access to Mt. Langley, Sequoia-Kings Canyon, and the Golden Trout Wilderness.

Getting There Suggest change

From Whitney Portal Road, turn south onto Horse Shoe Meadows Road. Follow the intimidating switchbacks all the way. Climbable rock starts around Walts Point and stretches back to the Golden Trout Crag!
