Description
This is a small boulder field on the southern-facing slopes of Barker Hill. There are three clusters of good boulders. Expect some gritty granite much like that of Blair Woods - lots of slopers and aretes. There are mostly shorter problems with a few exceptions. There are some other boulders not listed here that are way out. Good luck if you want to find them. Most are too small to bother.
Getting There
Parking can be had on Old Turnpike Rd. If you follow directions to Old Rusk Quarry, you’re in the right spot. Just up the street from Old Rusk parking is an old gate. The cable is down and laying in the ground. Park at this gate. There is room for maybe one or two vehicles. If there’s no parking here, park at Old Rusk, and walk the 100 yards down the road.
From the parking, hike straight back in the small, grassy open area. From here, there will be a small trail starting to become overtaken by saplings on your right. Follow that for a few hundred yards. A boulder collection will appear directly on trail to your left. Some other blocks are off trail to the right as well. This is the first main area, directions to subsequent areas will be on their pages. They’re not too far.
