Split Boulder

Colorado > Durango > Sailing Hawks

Description

Split Boulder has nice quality rock with several easy-ish up problems and nice, flat landings. It has a great traverse, which is slightly overhanging for most of it, on good holds.

Getting There

It's between the high trail and high-high trail. When walking from the W. 4th Ave. trailhead on the high trail, go a bit past the "fort". When you're going up a hill and get to two rocks that mountain bikers jump off of, start looking right. Just below the upper (and bigger) jump, go off to the right into the trees. Find the faint trail, and follow it toward the cliffs for just a bit. When the trail goes left and slightly uphill, stay straight up and over a little rise. The rock will be visible in front of you now.
