Description Suggest change

Blackerby ridge ice climbs are popular due to the short approaches, minimal avalanche exposure, and (sometimes) high quality ice. You can generally see if the climbs are in by looking up from the road. The ice is generally slower to form than Mount Juneau or little Nugget and climbs are often wet even after long cold spells.

The Alaska Ice Climbing website describes most of the climbs: alaskaiceclimbing.com/black…

Getting there Suggest change

This is the steep mountain above twin lakes. The best approach varies by drainage.

Accessing the Blackerby Amphitheater (Hanger, Fang, Yellow Brick Road) requires a 60' WI2 entrance pitch. Avoid the amphitheater if it's warm because collapsing pillars can strafe the approach.
