Description

Kotečnik is a medium sized sport crag in eastern slovenia and about an hour away from Maribor. There are about 350 routes ranging from 25 ft to 120 ft. Most of the climbing is at or above the 5.10 range with a variety of vertical faces and overhanging cave routes. Access to the rock is across private land, so please follow all asigns and restrictions.
The best place to stay, eat and access many routes is the Tourist Farm Tratnik. Camping (outdoors and indoors) is available and it is also possible to rent a private hut. There are bathrooms, showers and a kitchen for guests. You can sign up for a home cooked, delicous dinner (group style) and breakfast and drinks are also available. Prices vary, but we paid 30 € for one night camping and dinner for two people.

Getting There

Take A1/E57 south from Maribor for about 75 km. Take the exit left onto route 4. At the first roundabout continue on Ruse and follow this road for about 10 km until you see a gravel parking lot on the left and the farmhouse on the right.
