Description
Once you hike to Chimney Rock you will continue north along the Selkirk Crest. From the East Face of Chimney Rock, Follow the south face of the ridge (do not climb up to the ridge) in a northeasterly pattern. You will be walking over some slab, talus fields, and working your way into the trees and lush grass. This is where the bushwhacking will begin until you gain the saddle of the Selkirk Crest. Once you reach the crest follow the ridge until you can see Silver Dollar. Continue to follow the ridge and it will dip down a bit where you can continue to hike (if you plan not to climb) to the peak via the descent route or drop down (if you plan to climb) into more scree/talus following under the West face of Silver dollar. From this point you can see an obvious gendarme (you can also see this gendarme from the Selkirk Crest). Plan for a long day, 3.5 -5 hours to reach the base and the same amount of time to return to your car. Roughly 2-4 hours to climb the route.
