Description

This is an expansive area on both State and BLM lands. Big Water is located in the heart of the Colorado Plateau. There is rich sedimentary geology in the area. Time spans represented around Big Water range from Late Jurassic to Late Cretaceous rocks. The formations immediately around Big Water are the Carmel Formation, Entrada Sandstone, Dakota Formation, Tropic Shale, and Straight Cliffs Formation. There are towers faces, and boulders to be climbed here. All of the climbing pictures below can be seen from the pavement.. Explore and be respectful of the area and its culture.

Getting There

Highway 89 from Church Wells (West) to the Arizona/Utah State line (East). There are a myriad of possibilities on both sides of the highway.
