VAN CAMPING / WILD CAMPING
Within District Boundaries
The District of Squamish PROHIBITS camping within the municipal boundary. This includes sleeping in a vehicle anywhere within District boundaries. A bylaw gives the District the power to issue tickets for contraventions.
Camping on urban / residential streets is prohibited under pre-existing bylaws.
The “hot spots” that have been of most concern are below.
· The whole of the Mamquam Forest Service Road under the North Walls of the Chief between the junction with the 99 and junction with the Stawamus/Indian Arm Forest Service Road (as a salmon run and sensitive riparian area, camping close to the Stawamus River is especially inappropriate)
· The Powerhouse Springs Road including the parking area for the Fern Hill cliff
· The dirt road to the kitesurfing “Spit.”
Outside of District Boundaries
If you explore forest roads in crown land outside the municipal boundaries, it may be possible to find discreet roadside sites suitable for tents or van camping. However, the provincial authorities do have some restrictions ;
· Stays are limited to 14 days.
· Campers should follow Leave No Trace principles. HUMAN WASTE is a major issue.
· Strictly observe any current fire bans.

Description
A modest south-facing crag with 11 routes ranging from 5.6 to mid-10. The two major landmarks are the two central easy-looking handcracks in the middle - the left one is Doodles (5.6) and the right one is Squiggles (5.7). Despite appearances the climbing is actually kind of interesting, though often the placements are a little technical so bring your stoppers.
The experience is currently marred by the anchors, which comprise of a single rock staple atop each route. I recommend bringing a cordalette to equalize between adjacent rock staples, but as for cleaning routes you're on your own.
Getting There
This is tricky and best described in the 2020 Squamish Select by Marc Bourdon. (Honestly, you should buy it anyways to support quality guidebook writing.)
Drive to the top of High Creek Drive in Valleycliffe and park. This is a residential neighbourhood so do not park on the street or in the cul-de-sac and use the various parking bays along the street. As you walk to the cul-de-sac at the top of High Creek Drive, there is a path on the left that travels up a hill, then up around the back of the homes on the west side of the street. After 2-3 minutes you should see a path that shoots up and right, this is the mountain bike trail Equinox. You are essentially going to follow Equinox for another 10 minutes or so uphill past a viewpoint until Rampage Rock appears on the right. Bourdon recommended using a mountain bike trail app to find and follow Equinox - I downloaded Trailforks and found it was very useful as the trail branches in several places. When you see a 15m tall half-dome of mossy cracks facing south behind a few trees, you've found it.
