Description Suggest change

Traunstein (5,548 ft) is the highest mountain on the east bank of Traunsee next to the town Gmunden. The almost vertical limestone walls ending directly in the lake and the secluded position of Traunsteinmake it look like a boulder in the landscape. This distinctive silhouette is visible from a great distance and therefore it is often called a guardian of the Salzkammergut.

Getting There Suggest change

Drive to Gmunden and then take the Traunstein Straße along the lake. At the end of the road you will hit the parking lot (Parkplatz Traunstein).
