Description

This wall lies between the Landing and the Dog Walk, both far to the climber’s left of the great staircase. It is shaded by four large trees close to its base. It is named after the great singer/songwriter John Prine, a victim of the Covid-19 pandemic. As Bob Dylan put it, “Prine’s stuff is pure Proustian existentialism. Midwestern mind trips to the nth degree. And he writes beautiful songs.”

Each route here has the name of a John Prine song.  For those climbers unfamiliar with his oeuvre a few lyrics are included In the description of each route.

Getting There

This is our next crag past "The Landing" if you're coming from the Grand Staircase. Look for the big oak tree.

An alternate approach is to turn right at the green dumpster, walk down the path along the ridge line to the dog walk (a 5 minute walk at most and .1 mile), scramble down the dog walk and then head North to John Prine. This approach is considerably quicker.
