Description Suggest change

Diversion Dam is a structure made in the 1930's during the New Deal to vary water flow of the Big Chico Creek with a large gate. The gate is gone and now there are some really fun climbs up the tracks of this old gate. There are often many people in this area swimming and jumping into the water from the diversion so watch out! There are lots of climbs you can attempt from the water, with the classics being the old tracks. Also watch out for underwater rocks when falling or jumping. Exiting from the water is easy using the old worn away stairs (A VB slab when wet).

Please clean up after yourself if you are using these areas and make sure to have a fun time!

Getting There Suggest change

Park at Bear Hole parking lot, walk down to the water, follow the old concrete path up the Big Chico Creek for ~300ft, and the Diversion Dam will be on your right. It's hard to miss.
