Description

This boulder has the highway on one side and the Salmon River on the other. About 3/4 of this boulder is a great climbing surface and the rest is kind of flaky rock but still climbable.

In case you're wondering, the boulder was named after the dead deer that was found on the north side of the boulder. It has since been cleaned up and disposed of.

Getting There

Bambi's Mom Boulder.

From Salmon, follow Highway 93 North for 9.8 miles and turn left off the Highway into the Tower Rock Recreation Site.

Option 1:

Plug "45.311293, -113.906648" into any Gps and it should work

Option 2:

If you have access to google maps, plug "Tower Rock Recreation Site, North Fork Idaho" in.

Option 3:

Starting in Salmon, follow Highway 93 towards Montana for a little less than 10 miles. At the "Tower Rock Recreation Site" turn right into the parking lot.

After all options:

This is a boat launch just off the highway. Go to the end of the parking lot and park and then walk past the picnic tables to the boulder.
