Description
Spain's longest gorge (21km) is completely slathered in beautiful limestone faces of all angles, heights, and orientations. Try not to crash into oncoming traffic as your slack-jawed gaze is compulsively drawn from the harrowing curves to the stunning rock faces above. The gorge roughly runs between the towns of Panes and Potes, and the mountainous landscape is filled with grey limestone and lush greenery. In some spots the gorge splits the border between Cantabria and Asturias, making some of the crags technically in Asturias. However, the gorge is mostly in Cantrabria so the Asturias crags should be listed here as well. Potes is a beautiful (touristy) mountain town that host all of the amenities that climbers will need.
