Description
Open dawn to dusk. Wide variety of conditions. During the summer can be hot and dry, but also humid if there was a recent rain fall. On windy days the preserve is often cool with a sweet ocean breeze. There is no entrance fee. Dogs are allowed. Can be busy with hikers on the weekends. Coarse rock. Lots of moss and lichen.
Getting There
The main entrance is at the south end of the trails, park at Veterans Memorial Field. There is a more norther entrance that can be accessed at the end of quarry dock road (no parking). There are other smaller entrances, see oswhills.org/trail-map.html . Hiking trails used as approach.
