Description Suggest change

A shady and secluded zone with a few of the best boulders at Abbey Pond. The rock quality is good and some of the features are downright amazing - see The Green Room, Kook Slam, and Hustle Bones. An easy 15-20 minute walk from the trailhead will set you up with a great collection of moderates and a few hard projects. I'd recommend avoiding this area in the spring and summer, but this is a great place to spend a few fall afternoons. There is potential for quite a few more boulders (and even a sport climb or two) so bring your brushes and see what you can find!

Getting There Suggest change

Starting from the Abbey Pond trailhead, go up the trail for 100 yards or so until you see a slightly less worn trail splitting off to the right. This appears once you're at the same level as the lip of the gravel pit to your right (if you see the Trailside boulders you've gone about twice as far as you need to). Take this trail south for about 15 minutes. It isn't super well maintained but it's easy enough to follow - if you lose it just keep heading south and you'll find it again. After 10 minutes or so the trail splits, with the right fork going down into an old gravel pit. Stay left and keep your eyes out for a long section of chossy rock about four feet high. When you see this on your left, head left off the trail into the woods at a 45 degree angle. If there isn't much foliage you'll be able to see the cliffs, but they're almost impossible to see if the leaves are out. Keep going across a stream bed and into the boulders. You will see a 40 foot mossy cliff above you. All of the problems are to the right of the big wall on smaller tiered cliffs ranging in size from about 10 to 15 feet.
