Description Suggest change

This area has a really nice, challenging boulder 22 feet tall, a nature trail, a scenic overlook, and a 55 foot sandstone rock face with trad/top rope route. The land is publicly-owned... The trail and overlook are in the 4-H nature center (county property) and the huge boulder is in the public road right of way (state property).

Getting There Suggest change

From US Rt-60, turn south on WV ALT RT10 (Davis Creek Road) and go 1.1 mi, turn left onto 4-H Camp Road and go 0.4 mi. Turn left at the bridge by the boulder - which is as big as a two story house and impossible to miss. Park at the soccer field parking lot just across the bridge in Barboursville Park. The nature trail begins at the tree line behind the boulder and goes straight up the hill about 100yd, then turns right and runs level for about 100yd, then switches back to the left to go up along the ridge about 200 yd. There is some scrambling. The trail is well-worn and very popular. Unfortunately, the rocks are heavily covered in graffiti.
