Access Issue: 2024 Seasonal Raptor Closure Details

A limited number of crags on the west side of Lake Koocanusa are closed through August 31, 2024 to protect Peregrine Falcon habitat. These include:

- Pit Stop
- the Ruins
- Hidden Buttresss
- Great White
- Dawn Walls
- Don Juan
- Sunburst
- Naked Cliff
- Dihedral Wall
- Science Lab

All other crags are unaffected by the closure, which you can find here: fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DO…

Description

In 2019, there were seven leadable routes (and several top ropes) at Enchanted Neighborhood.

As of 2024, there are 23 routes at EN, all leadable, with grades ranging from 5.7 to 5.12! (All routes as of 2024 are here.)

Many, many thanks to the Lakeside Youth With a Mission crew and Jason Mills for all their hard work (and all of the expensive hardware that they paid for) to make this easily-accessed area way more expansive and awesome in the last few years.

Other notes:

It's easiest to navigate (sort) this wall from right to left (the top of the approach trail takes you to the base of Pooh's Honey Jar).

If setting up TRs, it's easiest to go around from the left side past 26 Rains.

Getting There

West across the bridge, go south one mile to a long, paved pullout along a guardrail on the east/left side of the road, park at the south end of the pullout, you will see an obvious trail on the west/right side of the road that goes up to the walls, it is a two-minute approach to the base of the wall.
