Description
The following is information from the Alaska Bouldering Guide ( climbak.com/book-inner ). The King Louie boulder is the first boulder you will come to in the Gold Cord area. It is a prominent boulder to the left of the trail, with its southeastern face being visible while hiking up. On the north-northwestern face is a distinguishable prow and roof feature. Landings aren't the best.
Getting There
To get to this boulder, arrive at the Independence Mine area and pass through, going left towards the mountainside. You will come to the ending of the paved trail and should find the Mill Loop Trail. Take this and cross the bridge. You will hike along this trail for 5 minutes or so, up the hill, and the King Louie boulder will be right on your left. From the parking lot, the total approach time is 10-15 minutes.
