Description

Bad Man Mezzanine and the terraces above and to the south have a number of popular one and two pitch routes.  There are two different ways to descend Bad Man Mezzanine which is the terrace in the middle of the wall with a large pine tree growing at it's top.  On the north side, at the base of a class 4 chimney, find a two-bolt anchor with chains which is the first of two single rope rappels.  Be careful doing the second rappel.  It is overhanging and ends in an area with lots of the dreaded poison oak.  Be careful pulling your rope as well.

On the south side of Bad Man Mezzanine scramble about 100 feet south to the two-bolts and chains for the anchor on top of the route Bandits in Bondage.  A double rope rappel gets one to the ground.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Due to a pair of nesting condors, effective immediately, all routes to the right(west) of Corona and extending south and around to The Hideout on the south face which includes Old Original. More information is located here:

Getting There

From the west side parking lot, hike 0.6 miles on the Balconies Trail to the junction with the Balconies Caves Trail. Follow a designated climbers trail, indicated by a carabiner sign, up to the base of the climbs.  Please respect the green fencing where vegetation restoration work is in progress.
