Access Issue: Seasonal Raptor Closures Details

Each year, the USFS monitors for raptor nesting.

A pair of golden eagles regularly nest on Bridge Creek Wall. When in effect, starting January 1, PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB or travel within 1/2 mile of Bridge Creek Wall. As a reference, the climb Condorphamine Addiction is just outside of this 1/2 mile buffer, and is OK to climb still. The closure extends through August 15, but there is active monitoring to determine if the seasonal closure can be lifted earlier.

In 2014, there was an active pair of peregrine falcons at Snow Creek Wall, but no official closure was put in effect due to the location of the falcons. The site will be continually monitored with changes or removal of closures updated as necessary.

Description

Lone boulder sitting 15-20 minutes above the road.The rock is kinda gritty, the setting is 5 star, the routes are fun, landings are good. Great spot to get away from crowds and experience some adventure bouldering.

Getting There

Go past 4th of July trailhead by just under 1 mile, park in a small pullout on the left, right after a swath of graffiti in the road, below the large rounded granite outcrop above the road. This will appear as a broken road-cut but it is actually a low angle, rolling dome of rock. Start hiking up this dome, keeping the vegetated gulley to your right, past cairns and a faint trail to where the dome terminates in the woods. From this point, follow the faint trail through trees and more rolling rock to a pair of large pines, with the vegetated gulley on the right. At these two pines, head right into the gulley, stepping over a rotting log. Bushwhack through ~50 feet of brush before emerging on the other side where the cairns and faint trail reappears. Wander uphill about 150 feet before the large boulder comes into view.
