Description
Point of Rocks is a collection of small crags and boulders lying within Stillwater National Forest at the base of Stryker Peak. It boasts 48 climbing zones and upwards of 450 routes and boulder problems. Roughly 50% of the climbing consists of single-pitch, sport routes, 35% is bouldering and trad/mixed lines constitute the rest.
The second edition guidebook (released 2020) is widely available at outdoor shops in the Flathead Valley and at climbPOR.com.
The Northwest Montana Climbers Coalition is the local climbing stewardship and advocacy organization; contact them with any questions or concerns about crag access, development, or stewardship.
Getting There
Approximately 25 miles equidistant between the towns of Whitefish and Eureka off Highway 93. There are several points of entry; most notably, a nondescript dirt road between mile markers 153 and 154; a small turnout past the former Point of Rocks Restaurant (it burned down March 2020); and the Mt. Marston Lookout Rd near Stryker.
