JULY 5 UPDATE FROM PARK MANAGEMENT:
ALL SEASONAL CLIMBING CLOSURES FOR CLIMBING AND SLACKLINING WILL BE LIFTED ON FRIDAY, JULY 7TH THIS WEEK.
THANKS, EVERYONE FOR YOUR HELP IN OBSERVING RESTRICTIONS DURING THE NESTING SEASON!
There are many seasonal raptor closures with varying dates and specific boundaries. These generally effect The Monument, Kiss of the Lepers, Picnic Lunch Wall and/or Smith Rock group, and possibly elsewhere. These usually run from February to the beginning of August, but each closure is usually shorter than this, and is dependent on the birds' behavior. Description
The short downhill approach and high concentration of hard lines make Gorilla Cliff one of Smith's finest bouldering areas.
Getting There
Take the rope de dope trail from the parking lot or bivy campground down towards rope de dope block. after a few minutes of walking downhill you'll note a small side trail on your left, follow this trail near the rising cliff band, after about 100 ft or so you'll encounter a small shallow roof, this contains the first few problems, continue left around the corner to the main area and harder lines.
