Description

Mainly located around the Montague Harbour area, Galiano Island has a plentiful amount of boulders and even some crags that have yet to be explored. With only two known first accents as of 2019 there is plenty of potential for those keen to get their names in the annals of climbing history.

Getting There

Park on the right hand side of the road just after the "Provincial Park" sign. There will be two huge boulders on either side of the road. It may feel illegal but the island is small enough that no one should bother you. Cross the road and walk to the right hand side of the largest boulder. The left hand side is someone's property limit and has a fence. Please be respectful to their land. There should be a small downwards, unofficial path that leads you to the back side of this clump of boulders. There are several V0s - V4s in the boulder patch. If you continue down the road on the right hand side - towards the official parking lot - there are tons of of boulders and even a small crag with some bolted, unfinished routes. However much of the potential in this forested area is deceptive. Unfortunately there is a large amount of growth and difficult starting points for potential belay spots. However, with a dedicated team - many routes could be put up in less than a week.
