Description
A microscopic urban crag located within the Upper Alvarado Creek that runs parallel to Alvarado Rd. It’s situated on SDSU property, hence the name Aztec Creek. A handful of easier climbs on 8’-10’ high boulders exist here. If you are affiliated with SDSU, student, staff or an alumni this area may be of interest, otherwise, people should head to actual SD climbing destinations.
This area is right by my office and I’ve seen these lowballs every day and finally decided to explore them. I didn’t see any evidence of previous attempts and the rock was completely undisturbed, with tiny chips and larger flakes coming off as I worked them. But if someone knows anything, feel free to help me improve the sub area history. In 2019 the city clear cut the plant life and trees that were hiding this area from view to remove an encampment. So if you do stop by to check it out please don't bring attention to yourself, not sure if Campus police will come bust your session. Don’t turn it into an adobe falls situation.
