Details
The front gate of Latta Nature Preserve gets locked every night around sunset and reopened every morning around 7am.
Description
The area called Wash Rock has several small boulders including THE Wash Rock, which is the one down at the water's edge shaped like a staircase into the lake. Although you are free to play around on all of them, only two boulders with climbable features are listed here. The boulders are short but there are enough problems to keep you entertained for a couple hours at a time. This area gets very popular with hikers, hammockers, and anglers in the summer so please be considerate and Leave No Trace. Pack it in, pack it out...and leave nature the way you found it.
- Special Note*
Getting There
Once you pass the Nature Preserve front gate, drive 1.5 miles down Sample Road to the Buzzard Rock Overlook parking lot on your right. (If that lot is full continue down sample rd. to the waterfront parking lot). Hike buzzard rock trail, turn right onto Laura's trail, and left to go through the cut log and follow the signs toward wash rock. Total approach is an easy half mile, 15 min. walk.
