Description

Sunny all day, and very exposed. Not a good place to be on a windy day, but the rock dries out fast after the rain..

Getting There

From the parking lot for caves of Toirano, hike up couple hundred meters to the entrance for the Grotte. Walk past the ticket office to a little concrete patio, from which the trail starts (yellow-and-red markings, also signposted "Sentiero delle Terre Alte"). Follow this train uphill, aboutr 8-10 minutes, to a junction where wooden signs nailed to a tree indicate the direction for various crags. The left side of Sector Gumbi is very close to this junction.

Follow the trail right and uphill, all along the base of Sector Gumbi, and continue walking uphill on a cairned trail. You will pass a very small sector with ~ 5 routes, called Sector Intermedio, and will see the Belvedere wall up and to the right of Sector Intermedio. Continue following the cairned trail until the path gets fainter. At this point, look up left, and scramble up some 4th class terrain, and rocky steps, following cairns, to get to the left side of sector Belvedere (about 300 feet uphill elevation gain). Alternatively, walk up the scree field following the faint trail to the right side of the Belvedere sector. The right side of the sector is considerably higher than the left.

30 min hike from the parking lot.
