Description
A large area of the Lake Arrowhead Pinnacles east of the main formations. Home to many excellent if not obscure and isolated climbs, be prepared for an adventurous approach. There remains room for route development for the motivated.
Getting There
Approach as you would for the Shooting Gallery but before heading up the hill to the crag continue up the creek bed at the base. Long pants and long sleeves are recommended here for the creek is home to poison oak and unfriendly thorns at certain times of the year. Cairns have been placed and the trail trimmed recently. The creek will continue gaining elevation passing the Out of Range and Perched Pinnacle eventually leading to a large ridge that overlooks the major formations of Head Hunter Valley. Follow a smaller creekbed down where it intersects a larger one and soon forks. Boulder hop up the left creekbed and head uphill to a clearly marked ridge. At the apex of this it is obvious where to descend into Headhunter Valley. From here follow the individual area approaches. Total time to the overlooking ridge and surrounding crags can be 30 minutes to 1 hour +.
