Description

Petalo currently consists of a handful of enjoyable single pitch routes and a couple multi-pitch climbs that follow the pillar and arete. It is located in the center right side of the main face.
Kokkinovrachos Main is the long and huge south faceing cliff that dominates the skyline to the north of Leonidio. It is divided into four sectors with additional multi-pitch routes available. Starting from the left you have Orama, Rocspot, Douvari and Petalo. Most of the routes here consists of a slightly lower angled sub-area of grey limestone (vs Orange/Red/Yellow steeper areas) in the middle of the huge cliff. Being lower-angled the climbs are of a more modest grade.

Getting There

Park down at the river in the main town parking area. Follow signs to Pankika Cafe and continue to walk uphill and left. Turn right at the church and continue uphill then turn left at the last house. A dirt path will bring you up to a utility Road where are you will take a left. Posted signs with Greg names and a blue dotted trail will lead you straight up to the base of the crag. Orama is the left most sector on the cliff.

From center Leonidio drive towards Vaskina. At the first hairpin turn park off the road or on a gravel road that leads right (towards the sea) Follow this dirt road for a few minutes to a well-marked sign (photo) thence up the well-marked trail 20-25 min to the base.

Before arriving at the main wall the trail will Branch, take the right variation and follow this to the sector. Petalo is located on the right side of the predominant arret in the middle of the face.
