Best Boulder In Charlottesville Climbing

Park at the Ragged Mtn dam. Take the Upper Loop about half a mile to the first intersection, with a trail headed off the Upper Loop to the right. Take that right but only walk about 50 ft-- don't go up the steep hill on the trail. Instead, walk into the woods off to the left side before the trail steepens. (A vague game trail marks the spot to veer left if you can see it.) Traverse the slope on these vague game trails to the first ridge. Between this ridge and the next ridge there is a shallow valley. Follow the first ridge down to the boulder, which is nestled in the shallow valley. You might find an old metal deer stand along the way; this means you're on the right track!
