Description
A south face makes this area a great winter-time crag. There's sun most of the day and only a few small trees for shelter, although this area does get a nice breeze. Most of the routes are equipped with modern bolts, clipped lower offs, and in many cases, the first bolt has the tagged name and grade of the route. Many of the middle-wall to right-wall routes are near 28m, and a few have second pitch extensions. The left side is a bit shorter (think 18-20m) and hosts the easier routes. Happily bolted - think somewhere in the range of 12 draws per 28m. The limestone is pockety and crimpy with some routes that can be quite sharp. The only drawback is its distance from accommodation, but it can be reached easily enough by motorway.
Getting There
Parking at 38°36'36.4"N 0°42'50.0"W. Preferably, park sensibly on right side of the street outside of a white house. Or, about 100m up there is a dirt road (very next left) that leads up about 0.25km to a flat parking area. From the white house, you can look up north and see the crag from the road. Walk 100m up the road, take a left up a dirt driveway, and after about 2 minutes you'll come to a spot with parking on your right and an approach trail to your left. Follow the approach trail for about 15 minutes to the base.
From the coast, leave the AP-7 which is initially signed to 'San Vicente' and then 'Alcoi' and take the CV-80 towards Castalla. After passing Castalla, head west on the CV-80 towards Sax and Villena and get off at Junction 13 (signed to Biar and Onil). Immediately turn right towards Onil and 0.7km after the roundabout is a chalet-style house on the right with black and gold railings. Crag is directly across
