Description Suggest change

Great limestone faces above the parking lot for the Glacier 3000 Gondola (Col du Pillon), not far from Les Diablerets in the Vaudois Alps. Most of the face is in the shade through the day, so this is a great choice for a sunny day. There are a large number of climbs here (mainly 4 or more pitches each, though there are a few single pitch climbs as well). The approach is straightforward, and the view over the valley is fantastic. There is also a waterfall and running stream nearby (in fact, it divides the wall into two sections).

After rains, it takes the wall a while to dry, so wait at least 2 days after a rain unless you want to climb on slick and wet rock. Descent is by rappelling.

Getting There Suggest change

Park at or near the Glacier 3000 Gondola Parking lot at Col Du Pillon. The postbus also stops here, so access by public transport is decent.  Cross the road if you park in the main Glacier 3000 lot) and follow the trail up to the farmhouse (it is almost directly below the Glacier 3000 cables). Pass the farmhouse and follow the trail to the right. After about 15 minutes of fairly mellow hiking on the trail, there will be a climber's trail to your left. There is a rock painted with DAR in yellow to mark the trail. Follow the trail up to the base of the wall.
