Description

This small north facing wall is tucked back directly behind the "Hotel Canyon Matka" and St.Andrea monastery. There are four bolted lines here though three of them have ancient rusty (possibly home-made) hangers. Two of the lines are two pitches long and they range from 5.6 to 5.11a . The rock is limestone and the lines are all slightly slabby. The crag feels like you are climbing directly behind a building. What it looses in aesthetics it makes up for in convenience. The crag is a 30 second walk from the hotel and it is maybe a 15 minute walk into the hotel. There are signs posted with climbing icons pointing you to the area. Still in such an incredibly beautiful place this is probably the least inspiring spot.

Getting There

Drive to the parking lot at the end of the road by the dam or if it is full park back on the road and walk to the dam. Walk in to the hotel (maybe 15 minutes at most) passing through a gate and by the St.Andrea monastery. Follow signs in the hotel area that have a climbing icon on them and point up the slope directly behind the hotel. If you get to the giant piton and carabiner on the main trail you have gone to far and need to go back and look for the path up behind the hotel. Have a beer in the hotel afterwards and watch people climb on the beautiful multi-pitch lines across the lake (or pay for a ride and go do them yourself).
