Dark Horse Boulder

Colorado > Georgetown > Guanella Pass

Description

Dark Horse is a big, beautiful boulder with a handful of great problems on solid rock. The landings are mostly flat, but the boulder itself is quite tall, the more pads the merrier.

Getting There

This is right off the road about 5 minutes before the main '7 Mile' bouldering area. The parking coordinates are 39.6644076, -105.7043053 (also pictured below).

[Hide Comment] For whatever lazy idiot needs to read this: it is not ok to stash pads under this boulder. It is especially not ok to just leave multiple large pads right out in the open and not even try to hide them. This is 100 feet from the road in a very popular tourist area. If you don't think land managers are noticing this type of impact, then you need to rethink how you are recreating on public land. There is a debate to be had around stashing pads in the alpine, but this type of nonsense makes our entire community look bad and can absolutely get areas closed to climbing. If you can't make a couple trips to and from the car to get pads, maybe it's time to try a sport more suited to a sedentary lifestyle. I hear golf is nice. Oct 23, 2025
