Description Suggest change

If you are in the mood for some Colorado Plateau, Cutler style chossaneering, and really want to get away from it all without doing a Wind River size hike (and you have a Wyoming adventure vehicle that deals well with BLM 2tracks), this is a cool outing in an amazing place. Lost Immigrant Spire is on the north edge of the famous Red Desert and is one of the historically important Oregon Buttes. The climbing is on soft, often rotten rock, like Cutler Sandstone. The stone is some form of Breccia or Welded Tuff like the Boars Tusk. This is adventure climbing.

Getting There Suggest change

From Highway 28 just west of the Sweetwater Crossing, turn south on Oregon Buttes Road towards the Buttes. Go like 8-10 miles until you are just northeast of North Oregon Butte and take a good dirt 2track towards the north side of the butte. Follow it as it traverses the north side passing West (south) Oregon Butte as well. Go like three miles... I didn't measure. Lost Immigrant Spire is obvious on the right.
