Description
There are a few small cliffs in lower Juan Tabo Canyon. Several of the cliffs on the arroyo left side were used historically as a training area by the New Mexico Mountain Club. There isn't much shade although the cliffs would be in the shade during the morning.
Getting There
The southern approach follows. Turn (east) off Tramway and onto Forest Road 333 about one mile north of the Tram. Park just past a cattle guard at a defunct pay station. Cross the road to the north and stay on the left trails through Jaral Canyon. After about a mile the trail drops into Juan Tabo Canyon. Go left or down steam and walk downstream to the cliffs. There is a fence farther down the canyon which marks the boundary with Sandia Pueblo. Do not cross onto tribal line to the west of the fence.
