Description
This is the most developed climbing area in Terrace. There is a good variety of routes from single pitches to 9 pitches long. Routes often involve a combination of slab and crack climbing. There has been a significant amount of large rockfalls recently, so use caution. Just because a route is cleaned and bolted doesn't mean it is safe. Many routes involve the liberal use of suspect blocks that will someday come down.
Getting There
The two main access points are off of Parmenter Avenue or through the golf course. With a four wheel drive vehicle, the quickest access route is off of Parmenter Avenue. Otherwise, the easiest access is to walk through the golf course.
Golf Course Road Access:
Heading east of Terrace on Hwy 16, turn right onto Old Lakelse Lake Drive. Follow it through lower Thornhill and up the hill. Turn left onto Thornhill street accross from the Thornhill Pub. Just past a bend in the road with some cliffs in the trees on the right turn right into the golf course parking lot. Park at the opposite end from the clubhouse and follow the dirt road which heads north, then turns east and heads towards the cliff. A road behind the gravel pit past a large steel tube leads to the power lines.
Parmenter Road Access:
Head East on Hwy 16. Turn right on Crescent Rd and then shortly after turn left onto Haaland Ave. 1km later turn right onto Parmenter Ave. On your right there will be a gravel road that steeply climbs up towards the power lines. Be aware this gravel road can be in poor conditions at times and can make for a tough drive up.
