Description

The Pharaoh (Point 5,100) is a monster Wingate tower is located deep up Spring Canyon well beyond the end of the Mexican Mountain Road. Along with the main summit, there are several other towers still un-climbed (although not that many obvious lines). The approach has a long, scenic 5+ mile approach. Don't forget to sneak-a-peak at the impressive arch just south of the tower.

Getting There

From the end of the Mexican Mountain Road, hike along the defunct road past the gate to the Mexican Mountain airstrip (~2.5 miles). Either follow the wash up Spring Canyon or locate a trail (a little shorter than the wash) near the north side of the airfield's windsock. Follow the trail or the wash for an additional ~2.4-2.6 miles to the base of the obvious tower at the junction of Spring and Nate Canyons. Although long, the approach is straightforward and takes around two hours.
