Access Issue: RAIN, WET ROCK and RAPTOR CLOSURES: The sandstone around Moab is fragile and is very easily damaged when it is wet. Also please ask and be aware of Raptor Closures in areas such as CAT WALL and RESERVOIR WALL in Indian Creek
Details
WET ROCK: Holds rip off and climbs have been and will continue to be permanently damaged due to climbers not respecting this phenomenon. After a heavy storm the rock will remain wet, sometimes for several days. PLEASE DO NOT CLIMB IN MOAB during or after rain.
RAPTOR CLOSURES: please be aware of seasonal raptor closures. They occur annually in the spring.
RAPTOR CLOSURES: please be aware of seasonal raptor closures. They occur annually in the spring.
Getting There
The approach takes 10-15 minutes from the Fisher Tower parking lot. Instead of hopping on the main trail, begin by following use trails toward the north face of Dock Rock. As you near Dock Rock, veer left (east) and follow a good trail along the rim of a deep little canyon, hiking past the Great Googly Moogly. Continue walking along the little canyon, negotiating a short 4th class step with a bit of exposure along the way. When the canyon becomes shallow, easily cross to the opposite side and backtrack a bit west to the base of Putterman's Pile.
