Description

There are a few decent boulders here. Most of the boulders have good landings and seem to dry quickly. The rock is good quality granite similar to that found in the Durham / Newmarket bouldering areas. Many boulders appear to have been scrubbed but there is still some lichen / moss so bringing a brush wouldn't be a bad idea. I gave generic names and no FA info because I have no idea who cleaned these boulders. Happy to edit and credit if it was you.

The area is split by 101 so there is some noise from the highway but it's not that annoying. I described routes as north side or south side. A tunnel under 101 splits the areas. The area before the tunnel is north of 101 and I referred to it as the north side in descriptions. After the tunnel is the south side.

This area is good for a few hours or maybe a half day. Good for new climbers as many the climbs are sub v2, aren't that tall, and have secure topouts. Also a good area for a workout circuit. You can jog the trails and hit a few of the good boulders as you run. Most landings are pretty flat and free of rocks so you don't really need a pad.

Getting There

Park at Henderson-Swansey Town Forest lot. Google will get you there. It's right off of 101 in Exeter. Follow the main trail for five minutes and take first left. Walk along a nice trail with raised wood pathways built by the mountain bikers. After another five to seven minutes you will reach another fork. Left goes through the tunnel to the south side boulders. Straight / right goes to the north side boulders. North side boulders are all within 100 yards of each other. South side boulder are more spread out. There are probably more on the South side but I didn't explore much over there.
