Description

Amazing, well preserved alpine boulders in a stunning and infrequently visited area. Expect having to work for it on the hike in. Please respect this incredible area.

Getting There

Park at the Granddaddy Basin Trailhead (end of route 315), which is on the south side of the Uintas, and can be accessed from route 35>144>315. You'll want to use google maps to look for Grandaddy Basin Trailhead to find it. Start out of the trailhead on the main trail, ready to hike for a while. You'll loop around, and start doing switchbacks. Look for a climber's trail that cuts off the switchback up a rocky slope, and follow this faint trail for the bulk of the hiking until you come to a small lake. Walk around (either way, but the east side seems a bit easier), and you will see the boulders on the N/NW side.
