Access Issue: PLACING BOLTS IS ILLEGAL IN THE SUPERSTITION WILDERNESS! Details

In the early '90's the USFS banned all placement of bolts in the Superstition Wilderness. This unfortunately includes replacement of existing bolts. Violating this ban may result in climbing restrictions on this beautiful area. Please think twice and go bolt somewhere else.

Description

No crowds, little sun, and potential for adventure. Little is known or at least shared about this impressive area and perhaps that is for the best. Unique features and micro-climates make this another gem among the Superstition Mountains. Only two routes are listed in the guidebook and the descriptions are so vague they are almost useless. Keep this area wild, climb gently and quietly so as not to raise the dead...

Getting There

Follow the same directions to the Mini-Totem but hike south and east to the 200 foot, lichen-covered wall. Allow 20-30 minutes from the base of The Hand.
