Getting weather forecast...

Description

A collection of short, medium and large boulders on the hillside below the Lower Primate Wall. This is a hard area to navigate and document. The site map is a very rough recollection and serves only as a general guide. Feel free to revise and update. This area is pretty rough and untamed and is most suitable for climbers who are willing to put in some time, have a sense of adventure and who love the process of exploring, cleaning and establishing new lines. The geological map of New Hampshire indicates that the main rock type is Kinsman Granodiorite. This tends to be a grayish to tannish medium-grained granite with white crystals of Feldspar. It is considerably softer than regular granite so expect to experience some loose flakes and broken holds. There is evidence of prior climbing on these boulders and it is safe to say that the Notch holds more potential for future problems.

Getting There

Following the directions listed under the Lower Primate Wall will lead you to the boulder field. Then use the site map as a general reference.

Matthew,
The boulders are at an elevation of about 1600 feet so there may likely be snow up there. The weather forecast does not look too promising as it shows cold temps and snow. Probably more consistent conditions in late spring, summer and early fall.

Nice job Otis! I remember setting you loose in here! Lots of dirty blocks in there for sure. Looking forward to some of Pete's special sit starts. Thanks for keeping the stoke alive you will be crushing into your sixties and still crashing through the woods! Jan 7, 2019

Matthew,
Definitely more potential in this location as well as other areas in the Notch. There is a small crew of locals who are also developing.
