The Loreto Area currently has two climbing areas with in 20-30 min of town .
Oasis Primer Agua a basalt sport crag with easy access in a scenic desert canyon. See the Oasis Primer Agua area.
The second area is the Pilon De Lolita a massive piece of Basalt. The climbing is situated on a number of fins and towers up to 200 meters tall. In general the developed routes are on the south side the formation. You will generally have a good mix of shade and sun due to the fin and spire nature of the climbing. Rock quality varies but is generally good on any of the routes that have seen more than a few ascents. Getting off route will quickly put you in loose rock. The Pilon de Lolita is also know as Pilon de Los Parras and is private land. After 3 years of limited access and working with the land owners we have been granted full access for climbing. This can be pulled away at any time so please tread lightly on the trails don't park at the Chapel or camp at any of the approach parking areas.
Driving to Loreto is 14-16 hour drive down the Baja peninsula.Lots of great options for camping on the beach on the way as well as incredible desert scenery.
The Loreto Airport has daily flights from the US. The cheapest way to fly in is to use the CBX boarder near San Diego. This allows you to walk across the boarder directly into the Tijuana Airport. Calafia and Volaris Airlines flys into Loreto several times a week at a very discounted rate.
